Year in Review - 2024
Hello again and happy new year!
It’s time to look back at another year of Errant Adventures! And what a year it was. So let’s jump right in!
Looking at my goals for 2024, I planned to release my new campaign, stream an Ironsworn game, and publish some writing from my sci-fi universe. Well… I released the new campaign, but once again I did zero streaming and published none of my writing, which if I’m being honest is very frustrating.
I think it’s a common plight for most creatives who want to do more: there just aren’t enough hours to do all the things I want to and work a full-time job and have a healthy relationship with my partner, so I’m working to have a little grace for myself.
Personally, 2024 was not as challenging as 2023, but it did hold some big changes. My partner and I both changed careers: her in April and me in September. I’m loving my new job, but it definitely required a heavier mental load making that transition which slowed down my production pace.
Let’s look at some stats. In 2024, I released 35 episodes, the majority of those as part of Book One: Meridian, my new campaign. I also released 2 episodes of a 4 part collaboration with Jon from Tale of the Manticore. The other 2 episodes released on his feed. We had a lot of fun creating the Nallukhar story, and I’m hopeful we’ll continue the story in 2025.
I also started 2024 off with a 4 part co-op Ironsworn campaign with my friend and fellow GM, Chad. One of my goals for 2025 is to get more episodes of that game recorded and released.
Beyond those two instances, the only collaboration I did in 2024 was with my good buddy, Matt Risby, with the Ironsworn Guyz podcast on his Youtube Channel. We just recorded the first episode of 2025 yesterday!
I ended 2023 with 76,705 downloads. I received 33,829 downloads in 2024 which means the show crossed over the 100,000 download mark this year! As of December 31st of 2024, we’re sitting at 110,636. Compared to 2023, I released 4 fewer episodes and got almost 4,600 more downloads. I think a lot of that is thanks to the Tale of the Manticore collaboration, for which I’m very grateful.
Mostly I’m grateful to everyone who listened in 2024. I really appreciate you spending time with me every couple weeks!
Goal for 2025: continue to create Book One: Meridian and build my sci-fi universe. With the switch to running Traveller and playing in a universe that has a lot of meaning to me, I’ve transitioned from recording as I play to writing a script while I play. It has lengthened the amount of pre-production work, but greatly reduced the amount of time I spend editing. Plus, I’ve really been missing writing regularly and that has been a good way for me to get back into a rhythm with writing.
Aspirational goals: I’m going to attempt to do a 12 part Sundered Isles series, releasing 1 episode a month, and if I can manage it, I’m going to have a different guest every month! I also have a novel idea I’m noodling on that I’m hoping to put some energy toward writing.
All that to say, I’m excited for 2025, and I hope it’s a great year of telling stories. Thanks again to everyone who has listened and will listen!
